When purchasing heroes, the button to purchasing them through Diamonds (which is the main in-game currency, which is acquired by exchanging for real life money) is more prominent them buying them through Battle Points (in-game currency acquired by just playing it).
Several events, which sometimes are really time-limited and others that have recurrence albeit unscheduled.
The game states in it's ToS that match-making is also based on spending habits. Although most of the purchases are cosmetics, some of them gives a tiny amount of extra points to star-up or other in-game currency that will help the paying player progress.
Diamonds are a direct or indirect in-game currency to purchase skins and other things.
But you can hide it tho to be fair
Limited time event
There's a lot of monthly passes in this game, everything completely optional. It doesn't really provide much value for a casual player either. It's just there for spenders to spend more. However, there's a "Weekly diamond pass" that is advertised as a "Super mega alternative" to buying normal diamonds. It forces you to log in everyday, and gives you like 300% more diamonds than an equally priced normal diamond bundle.
There's a constant stream of events that just don't seem to give me a break. And every event usually gives you these tokens, that you can use to collect free stuff, by logging in and completing minuscule tasks like "Play 1 game with friends", "Win 2 games", and so on. So, yeah, it makes it so that I'm forced to play 2 games even on my hardest days, just to make sure i dont miss any tokens, thus missing my free stuff.
It's a MOBA game, so, yes.
I gave up on this game like 6 years ago, when i was still a minor btw, cause I gave in to the "1 diamond for using 1000 promo diamonds" scam and ended up becoming a regular spender. I came back, because I now am able to keep myself in check, but I can't help but be afraid of leaving again, knowing how much I missed out in the 1st 6 years i left.
