Recent Dark Pattern Reviews

Pay to Win reported on Jun 25, 2022
The game is singleplayer, but you can pay to get bonuses that help you progress faster, which become especially tempting as progress can become very slow in the later game.
Invested / Endowed Value reported on Jun 25, 2022
It's an idle game, and I've sunk many hours into building my character this far. I wouldn't say it has monetary value, but I would hate to lose it.
Artificial Scarcity reported on Jun 25, 2022
Daily quests expire if not completed that day.
Pay to Skip reported on Jun 25, 2022
The game lets you spend premium currency on temporary boosts, allowing you to shorten the time it takes to meet the next progress threshold.
Power Creep reported on Jun 25, 2022
It's an idle game. Enough said.
Badges / Endowed Progress reported on Jun 25, 2022
Gives you achievements for meeting various gameplay milestones, e.g. "collect 10 coins".
Complete the Collection reported on Jun 25, 2022
The aforementioned achievements.
Illusion of Control reported on Jun 25, 2022
The game gives you rewards and upgrades that feel like real progress, despite the fact that gameplay is open-ended and endless. You're progressing toward nothing.
Variable Rewards reported on Jun 25, 2022
Hitting bonus boxes gets you a random reward, usually either coins or a powerup.
Waste Aversion reported on Jun 25, 2022
The game drip-feeds you a small amount of free premium currency. However, it's not enough to buy any meaningful upgrades, so you are forced to either "waste" it on one-time boosts, or buy more so you can get a permanent upgrade.
