Events take place over the weekends; VERY SHORT ~20 hour events require that you be awake at the right times in order to climb the leaderboards
Rewards refresh every few hours
The entire game is basically just repetitive and tedious tasks, then waiting
Not TOO bad for pop up advertisements when you don't want them... but you need to watch ads in order to get rewards, power ups, bonuses, and other things you want
If you become really addicted and keep at it, you can make it to the end... but they're always releasing new levels, and there are ALWAYS events.
CONSTANTLY
Rewards show up on a timed level, and events happen during specific times, with hours in between them where there is a count down
You can buy in-game currency which will allow you to get things without waiting or progressing normally in the game; you can also spend money to avoid watching ads (and most serious players do)
You can buy in-game currency that you can use to open reward boxes, which have random assortments of cards that you might need to
Basically as soon as you buy something (other than to remove ads, which is fairly effective for games I've played) it stops being important; it just gets you over the wall you were in
