Recent Dark Pattern Reviews

Playing by Appointment reported on Sep 19, 2022
There are Events like the "World Tour Mini" that take place every... day? couple of days? Weeks? I usually don't participate so I'm not sure. You earn badges for games that you complete in the Event. If you don't complete all the games in the Event by the time the Event is over, you miss out on the badges for that event. There's also a "punch card" that resets every week.
Advertisements reported on Sep 19, 2022
Every couple of games an ad video plays. There are also ads in the results screen and on the Home screen. When the video ads play, the sound overrides any settings you've set to mute the game (including through the Windows Volume Mixer) so you have to mute the ad itself. Sometime the mute button for the ad is not visible.
Infinite Treadmill reported on Sep 19, 2022
You earn experience points each time you complete a game. Earn enough points and you "level up". Every chunk of levels you earn a new title. There is (as far as I can tell) no level cap.
Invested / Endowed Value reported on Sep 19, 2022
You earn experience with each game you complete and you also level up. Every tier of levels you go through, you earn a new title. There are also Daily Challenges and if you delete your account, you lose your progress with the Daily Challenges. There's also limited-time events that give you badges for completing games in the Event, and if you make a new account you lose all of those badges.
Badges / Endowed Progress reported on Sep 19, 2022
You earn experience with each game you complete and you also level up. Every tier of levels you go through, you earn a new title. You earn arbitrary coins and badges for completing Daily Challenges. There's also limited-time events that give you badges for completing games in the Event,.
Complete the Collection reported on Sep 19, 2022
Multiple ways - the weekly "punch card" rewards that give you extra XP earning if you complete all the games on the punch card by the end of the week. The Daily Challenges, which has a challenge for each Solitaire type. The Events, which have a set of games or challenges to complete to earn all the badges for the Event.
Aesthetic Manipulations reported on Sep 19, 2022
Flashy animations and sounds for successfully completing a game. Gold coins flash out and fill up a bar when you complete a Daily Challenge. (The coins don't *do* anything, even.) Attractive badges for completing Events.
Advertisements reported on May 25, 2022
There are video ads periodically that cannot be skipped without paying for a premium membership.
Recurring Fee reported on May 25, 2022
There is a monthly subscription to remove ads.
Competition reported on May 25, 2022
There are daily events with a competitive leaderboard.
