Everything in the Moon and Mars areas requires Space Coins, which can only be earned by rescuing animals from the earth areas and sending them to space zoos. Or by buying the coins directly.

When rescuing animals, you can uncover up to 10 squares on a 5x5 board. If this isn't enough to find all the hidden animals (which is frequent), you can either watch an ad or pay a Discobux to uncover 5 more squares.

All three currencies (gold, Discobux, and Space Coins) can be purchased with real money, and the player is especially encouraged to buy Discobux.

On finding a new animal, its pen must be built over the course of minutes or hours before it starts generating gold. This wait time can be skipped with Discobux, a premium currency.

Each of the twelve areas has seven animals, and your zoo can contain up to 25 of each animal. After obtaining those 25 animals, you can obtain statues for rescuing and releasing 40 more. The seventh "Timeless" animal in each area only becomes available by building up your zoo to a sufficient degree and then using the Time Machine to restart the game, encouraging players to play the game thirteen times to get everything.

It's an idle game where you stop earning points if you don't check in often enough.
